Friendship; it's a bit like rain
With no reason
Comes and goes in and out of season.
It's beautiful
when the fresh drops first kiss your face
Dissolving the salt of your skin
As it rolls down your cheek
Such tingling of desire
O what peace.
As more drops fall flat on your head
Opening up like daffodils in the sun
You gently feel its frigid cold
Covered up in the lacy pearls of deep blue raciness.
It wraps you up in it's overwhelming caress
touching you in places you never perceived or permitted
While you grapple to sustain your exposed nakedness
It's incomprehensible the sustained wickedness.
Suddenly it stops
you're left alone to seek shelter for your bereaved soul
Drowning in a pool of your own
You can taste the salt
As it crystallises a trophy
For every moment you thought you together owned.
Friendship; it's a bit like rain
Abounds in its season
And scarce with the summer days
When the grueling heat of reality sets in
Slowly every drop evaporates away
The dryness is left to sort its infertility-deserted.
When it pours by the river banks
Slow to merge with what seems to be it's likeness
And then forks out at tributaries
To part ways
As widely spaced as when they first came.
Friendship; it's a bit like rain
it pours truth
it needs no defending
There is no end
To how careless it is with itself.
And so it floods
then leaves crystal clear
The damage it's made.
Truth is, we're only loyal
until the next better offer
And just like rain we drift away,
heal beneath the sun
and come back
Only when the clouds are right.
Friendship; it's a bit like rain.
